Leave It to the Circle of Life

On the contrary to what most people believe, the animals we come into contact with, such as deer, squirrels, and opossums, are more scared of us than we are of them. Even though the majority of us have distanced ourselves from creatures like these, it is important to make these beautiful animals feel welcomed when they stumble upon us. It’s so easy, simply just leave them be. They’ve got their own lives just the way we do ours and there’s really no reason to interfere.

5 Reasons to Let Critters do Their Thing:

  1. One opossum can eat about 5,000 ticks in just one season, and they can’t carry Lyme Disease. Opossums are the only marsupials in North America.

  2. Squirrels forget to dig up some of their buried nuts, which helps grow trees (National Wildlife Federation, 2015).

  3. If one coyote is killed, it could be the pack leader or alpha female. This makes the pack build better defense mechanisms, like birthing larger litters. This can lead to attacking more of our furry friends like pets and farm animals.

  4. Skunks are not aggressive towards humans and only spray in self-defense. (One Kind Planet, 2016).

  5. Call Nolin River Wildlife first (502) 528-3345. When people try and get rid of unwanted animals and are uneducated, most likely they will get hurt. When you find them wounded already, contact us.

The most important thing to remember is that this ecosystem isn’t just for us; it’s for all of God’s creatures. Just because our paths cross sometimes doesn’t mean they are in our way, so learn why we’re all key members of the ecosystem and coexist in peace.

Isaiah 11:6 “The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.”
