OPAL

Opal is the definition of a no-nonsense old lady—if she had a handbag, she’d be swinging it. We suspect she was an owner surrender, likely fed a poor diet that contributed to her signature look: wide, bugged-out eyes and a tail that’s still suspiciously plump despite her slimming down elsewhere. She has the energy of someone who just left church and is about to be a nightmare to the waitstaff at Sunday brunch. But despite her attitude, Opal is a fantastic ambassador, helping people see that opossums aren’t just important to the ecosystem—they’re also pretty adorable, even when they’re judging you.
